In April 2008, Novabus delivered 8 HEV buses to Montreal for a 1 year test period. These buses feature a hybrid battery system on the roof for speeds under 50km/h and diesel power over 50km/h. They are based on the same design as the LFS model, but the HEV's has proven to be more reliable than the regular diesel LFS version.

This is Montreal's first ever order of articulated buses and the first production order for this new model offered by Novabus called the Artic. The lenght of the Artic is 62ft and it's based on Novabus' 3rd generation redesigned model. Some new features on this bus are the full lenght side destination display and electronic route number box. It also has top sliding windows for better ventilation throughout the bus. These buses will be operating on selected STM routes that require higher capacity buses. The Artics will all be delivered in the full new STM 'movement collectif' paint scheme.

The STM tested in passenger service from March 18th, 2008 to August 2008, 2 new Novabus LFS Artics demos both made in 2008. They ran on routes 69/80/165/535. Both buses have a Cummins ISL 330 HP engine with Novabus's new rear design and new front headlight setup. The first #40881, has a Voith transmission, is equipped with space for 1 wheelchair and doesn't have STM seating. The second #40882, is equipped with a ZF transmission, has space for 2 wheelchairs and does have STM seating.

This gallery contains photos of buses that have been chartered by YUL Bus Charters, a local Montreal transit enthousiast group that gathers a few times a year to remember a bus series or bus in particular that is due for retirement from active service. The group president 'SMS' started YUL Bus Charters in 2006 and continues to this day. Charters usually take place in the spring time of each year and others are added during the course of the year if suficient interest is received. YUL Charters is the premiere bus fan group in the Province of Quebec and all others are pure imitations and 2nd rate organizations that are left in the dust!
